Juneteenth WA 2026: Busy, Joyful, and Full of Love

Juneteenth WA was busy, chaotic, musical—and full of joy.

This year’s celebration moved to Haub Field at LeMay Car Museum, a beautiful greenspace on the Eastside of Tacoma overlooking the city. The space was definitely smaller than the previous home at Stewart Heights Park, so the energy was concentrated: people, music, families, vendors, friends, and community members all gathered close together for a day that felt loud, warm, and alive from beginning to end.

For Spotlight Body, it was an incredible day to be part of something bigger than a pop-up. We saw so many familiar faces—from family and friends to returning customers, fellow small-business owners, and community members we look forward to seeing every year.

Plus, the music was FIRE. Crystal Aiken completely electrified the crowd with a medley that could have lasted another 30 minutes. Erica Campbell brought back classic Mary Mary hits and her popular solo music as well. I was reliving my teens for both their sets!

You showed out for Cleansing Gel.

I’ve been teasing Cleansing Gel for a while, but I needed the formula to be just right. I am so proud to finally present a liquid formula to you all—and it was absolutely a hit.

So many people picked up more than one scent, and by the end of the day we sold out of Sea Star, Green Goddess, and Pearl. Seeing people smell, compare, and build their own little lineup of scents was one of the best parts of the day.

Certain bars had people coming back for another smell all day long.

Fresh, warm, beachy, fruity, cozy—there was a little something for every mood.

Great booth placement…until it became stage seating.

Our booth was located front and center at the beginning—or end—of the center aisle, directly facing the stage with two open sides. On paper, it felt like prime real estate.

And in some ways, it was.

But as performances started, people naturally crowded around our booth for the best view of the stage. It became a full-time job keeping enough space open for potential customers to actually make their way to the table. Between me, friends, and a few neighboring vendors, we were politely—ahem—redirecting people all day.

A little chaotic? Yes.

But it also said a lot about the energy of the event: everyone was excited to be there, enjoying the performances, and fully present in the celebration.

A day I will not forget

One of my favorite moments was meeting up with two of the event headliners, Erica Campbell and Crystal Aiken.

Erica’s formal meet-and-greet took us through the car museum, where we were able to take a group photo with my mom, mother-in-law, son, and Erica. Getting to share that moment with family made it feel really special.

I also caught Crystal backstage for a quick pic after her set. She had the crowd goingggg. You really had to be there.

Being part of Juneteenth WA each year is meaningful. But this year especially, I left feeling grateful—for the joy, the community, the familiar faces, the new customers, the music, the love, and the chance to show up as Spotlight Body in a space that celebrates all of it.
